What Concentration of Standard Solutions Should I Inject?

Purpose

This article outlines how to use standard solutions to check for proper sensitivity of your system and explain the reasoning behind proper injection concentrations of standard solutions.

Solution

Inject standards at the concentration(s) around where your sample concentrations are expected to be before, after, or between samples everyday.  Standards should be periodically injected at both higher and lower concentrations to check the system sensitivity but it is not necessary to do this everyday.

Recommended standard solution concentrations are specific to applications, and overloading the column with high concentrations can disassemble the column and allow compounds to carry over and elute in subsequent injections.
